Psychological therapist Barry can help people with OCD, social phobia, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic and anxiety. He’s accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies.
I have a comprehensive knowledge and experience of treating simple and complex conditions using CBT such as anxiety, anger, depression, and health and social phobia.
In the last few years I’ve focused on trauma-related conditions, such as childhood trauma and the effects it has in adulthood including low self-esteem, depression, anger and relationship issues. As these can be very painful and sensitive issues for people, my work is carried out in a very empathetic confidential manner.
Where the work may be to difficult to deliver over the phone I’d always consider face-to-face treatment, or try and direct the client to the best and most appropriate treatment resource in their area.
I’m a trained and experienced mental health nurse and psychological therapist, with many years experience working with people with all forms of psychological problems. I’m married with three children, and in my spare time help run the local Scout group.
For over 13 years I’ve worked within the NHS as a senior psychological therapist, and over two years working within my own practice. Since that time I’ve worked comprehensively with adults suffering from all levels of problems including anxiety, depression, solution-focused problem solving and life-style problems, and I specialise in trauma-focused work including post-traumatic stress disorder.
I trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) at Kings College London in 2003, and have updated my skills in all common mental health problems treatable with CBT by attending many courses and seminars over the years. I was part of the original Improving Access to Psychological therapy focus group in London which was a government initiative to create better access to psychological therapy to all adults throughout the UK.
