Specialities

Having worked in the industry for over 20 years I can advise on most of the problems faced by new authors trying to find their place in the writing community including: • How publishing works • How books are commissioned • Current trends – what’s hot and what’s not • What editors and agents are looking for • How to present yourself and your work • What pitfalls to avoid • How to protect your interests • How to build a sustainable career

In his own words

I've been a successful children's author for more than 20 years. In that time I have written and edited books for most of the major publishers and my novels are on sale throughout the UK, the US, Japan, South America and China.

My experience has not just been limited to children's fiction. I've also written non-fiction and drama. I've worked as a series editor for Macmillan and Stanley Thornes and as an editor for The Literary Consultancy, Writers' Workshop and Adventures In Fiction. I'm currently a mentor on the Arts Council-funded Apprenticeships in Fiction scheme, which exists to develop new literary talent and I've had considerable experience discovering and developing authors.
