I’ve been a midwife for over 20 years and prior to that I trained as a specialist nurse. More recently I’ve been midwifery director of two high-profile online pregnancy and parenting information portals in the UK. I’m also the lead author for the bestselling pregnancy and birth book Ask a Midwife, published by DK.
I regularly contribute to radio, TV and newspapers and pregnancy magazines - on all topics related to midwives, midwifery, pregnancy, birth, early parenting and women’s health.

Supporting new and established parents with timely relevant evidence-based information on which they can make informed decisions.
Supporting parents through the maze of decisions they’ll be called upon to make during their pregnancy and help them in all their negotiations with the NHS or other care providers.
Helping parents to access all that the maternity services should be providing for them and their family.
My professional licensing body is the Nursing and Midwifery Council, UK.
