In her own words
My name is Charlotte Stirling-Reed and I am a Registered Public Health Nutritionist registered with the Association for Nutrition. I help adults lose weight through healthy eating and help ensure children eat a balanced diet, whether they’re fussy eaters or have issues around mealtimes.
So, if you’re looking for advice to help with childhood eating behaviours or to find out how to become slimmer and fitter, I’m here to provide the information you’re looking for.
With in-depth knowledge in the area of healthy eating for weight loss, I work closely with overweight and obese children, adults and families who need advice and support to achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
As a nutrition advisor, I understand that life creates many barriers to consuming a healthy diet and sometimes we all need a helping hand to try and decipher the correct information from the diet myths that are out there. I can therefore work one-to-one with you to help provide tailored advice for your individual and specific needs.
I obtained a first-class honours degree in Human Biology and Nutrition from Oxford Brookes University and an MSc from Bristol University in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health. To keep up to date with the current science behind nutrition, I regularly attend conferences, courses and training to improve my continued professional development. As part of this, I recently took part in behaviour change training - an important skill to have when helping people to improve eating behaviour and adapt their dietary behaviours.
Paediatric nutrition advice
I also have considerable experience researching and working with school nutrition and the guidelines around school meals. I work in London as a Community Nutritionist which involves much work in paediatric nutrition, dealing with issues such as childhood eating behaviours, fussy eating, as well as helping children to achieve a balanced diet. I have also recently been trained in nutrition in the under ones and run many weaning workshops for new mums.
I truly believe the statement “We do not eat nutrients. We eat food” (Barasi, M.E. 2003) and I also believe that people’s health and lifestyles could often be improved easily by making small, sustainable changes to their dietary intakes and food behaviours.
I look forward to giving you nutrition advice on how to eat for optimum health – whether it’s for you or your child.
