Specialities

I’m a Couple Counsellor and Sex Therapist who specialises in:

  • Sexual problems, including erection difficulties, premature ejaculation, painful sex for men and women, loss of sexual desire
  • Dealing with the aftermath of an affair
  • Differing expectations and life stages
  • Becoming parents
  • Financial worries
  • Step-parenting difficulties
  • Worries about older parents
  • Separation and divorce

In her own words

If you are experiencing problems in your relationship, it can be hard to know where to turn to get help and advice. You may not wish to ‘burden’ a friend with your concerns and you might not feel able to discuss the issue with your partner.

As a Relate-trained couple counsellor and sex therapist, I can help you find a way forward.

You’ll be surprised just how the sheer act of talking about your worries and sharing them with someone else can be a great first step in helping to solve them.

I started training in 2005 with the graduate certificate in couple counselling (one-year course). Then, from 2008-2009, I undertook the postgraduate diploma in relationship therapy (psychosexual therapy), a two-year course.

I am involved in work with a children's centre for Relate that provides emotional support for new mothers at two baby clinics in St Albans. This is as well as acting as a co-facilitator on training courses for a leading cancer charity. These courses help health professionals talk to their patients about the impact cancer and cancer treatment has on their sexual relationships.

My work history also includes time as a registered mental nurse from 1985 to 1999, and as a project worker for HIV/drugs for a local drug and alcohol agency in 1996.
