Achievements

Created Deep Impact Brief Therapy ideally suited to busy people who don’t want to be in long-term therapy.
Created Mind and Body Therapy that combines therapeutic massage with self-hypnosis to treating stress, IBS, insomnia and pain reduction.
Mind and Body Therapy has been recognised as a new therapy, has gained accreditation and is rolling out in clinics and spas around the UK.

Specialities

I have a broad experience over 30 years, originally working in an NHS mental health hospital, then the Metropolitan Police, and for the past 15 years as a therapist specialising in medical hypnotherapy and EMDR therapy for: • Addiction (drugs, alcohol and tobacco) • Insomnia • Trauma • Fear of flying and other phobias • Stress • Anxiety • Depression • Pain reduction in pregnancy and other areas • Relationship issues • Coping with serious illness • Psychogenic infertilty • Low self-esteem

In his own words

As well as seeing patients at my practices in London and Hampshire, I also see those from the USA, Europe, India and the Middle East.

I originally trained in counselling and went on to train at a drug and alcohol centre in Surrey where I worked as an addiction therapist. I also trained at a pregnancy advice centre working with those who’d suffered a miscarriage or had a termination.

Later, I served on the professional advisory board of a national charity offering help and support to adult survivors of child abuse. I went on to become its vice chair.

In the mid 90s I studied and attained a distinction in my diploma in medical hypnotherapy, accredited by the examination board headed by Professor Mathew (a leading proponent of hypnotherapy within the NHS).

I did further training in the areas of psychogenic infertility, inner child therapy and psychoneuroimmuniology (PNI) for people suffering from terminal and serious illness. This is as well as training in EMDR, a treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder and other trauma-related conditions (EMDR Institute and the LCCH).

I’m on the committee of the Medical School Hypnosis Association (www.msha.org.uk), whose patrons include Professor Peter Whorwell BSc MB BS MD PhD FRCP (UK) and Professor David Spiegal of Stanford University (USA). Both are world leaders in medical research including the use of hypnotherapy. The MSHA is for doctors and medical students who’ve trained in hypnotherapy and who wish to undertake medical research in this area.

In the 90s I ran Home Office-accredited psychology courses for the NHS, police, social services and Home Office in drug and alcohol addiction, child abuse and stress.

I also developed a style of therapy known as deep impact brief therapy (DIBT), suitable for busy people who want a brief and deep intervention to resolve a problem without the need to engage in long-term therapy.

For the past 14 years I’ve worked at The Peel Clinic, which was originally based in Weybridge, Surrey, and for the past eight years based in London (Clapham Common) and also in Surrey (Wentworth and Weybridge area) and Hampshire (Alton and Farnham area) (www.thepeelclinic.org.uk).

In 2009 I developed a powerful and dynamic new treatment for stress which combines self-hypnosis with therapeutic massage. I’m developing further treatments for pain reduction, IBS, insomnia, weight loss and stopping smoking. These treatments will soon be available in some of Britain's top spas and clinics in the UK and overseas. (www.mindandbodytherapy.co.uk)
