Specialities
I work a great deal with divorcing and separating parents (sadly, it's usually fathers) who have been advised to take parenting classes to improve their chances of having contact with their children.
In her own words
‘I don't shout so much and everyone is happier.'
The best part of my job is knowing the difference it makes not just to the parents I work with, but their children (and maybe their grandchildren too.)
My parenting work is based on:
understanding our needs as parents (and how to get them met) as well as those of our children
increasing co-operation
reducing conflict in family life
clear non-judgemental communication;
dealing with anger
understanding children's behaviour;
setting and keeping boundaries
building self-esteem.
