Specialities
Even though I've been a published journalist since 1985, I have always written creatively. Not only has my work been highly praised by many national and regional editors and publishers, but also by Arvon Foundation tutors such as playwrights Alan Bleasdale and Willy Russell, radio writers Juliet Ace and Ray Jenkins, and by University of Liverpool School of Continuing Education tutors travel writer Jim Bennett and novelist Richard Hill. I’m also trained in the use of in-depth coaching skills. This combination of training and experience means that I am well-placed to help Greatvine users find themselves through their writings and benefit from the therapeutic qualities - in the non-medical sense - of their own, often masked, creativity. I offer this assistance through 1:1 coaching, workshops and on-line coaching and specially tailored e-courses. I also offer a critique and assessment service.
In her own words
Creative writing - fiction and non-fiction - is very powerful. And writing has even been proved to be good for your health! You may want to use creative writing to explore who you are, what's right and what's wrong with your life at present and what you really want for your future. As a coach and director of Lonely Furrow Company, I can help you - as I've helped others - to achieve new perspectives on your life. This is known as Therapeutic Creative Writing or Writing for Well-being and, alongside Story-telling for Well-being, forms a main plank of my Well-being practice.
I also have over ten years experience as an English language and literature teacher dealing with adult learners, so if you'd like to write but don't know where to start, I can help. And, as a published writer and journalist with a career stretching back to 1985, I fully understand the mysteries of getting published. But my particular interest is in helping writers make a start or remove Writers' Block so they can realise their full creative potential.
If you have to write for work, producing press releases, reports, web copy, articles or books, I can help and support you while you do this - or teach you how to do it - or even do it for you. And I am delighted to have the opportunity of putting all this experience at your service.

Current projects include ghost-writing the autobiography of an Aberdeen fisherman who spent time in Africa in the 1950s, producing a self-help book for young adult depressives and their carers (with coaching objectives) and writing an historical romance.
