Lynne Hackles
Columnist, Writer and Tutor

With over 500 articles and short stories published in nearly all the UK’s and Australia’s women’s magazines herself, Lynne enjoys seeing people improve their work and reach publishable standards.

Achievements

Every published story is an achievement.
Being asked to write a book about ghostwriting.
Having a story in an anthology for children and seeing my name alongside the top children's writers in Britain.

Specialities

Writing short stories for women's magazines is my speciality although lately I’ve branched out into non-fiction. My book, Writing from Life: How to Turn your Personal Experience into Profitable Prose, is in its second edition. I’ve also written a book on all aspects of ghostwriting.

Other specialities include:

• Regular features in Flair For Words and Link (the newsletter for the National Association of Writing Groups). • Selling work in Norway. • Regular columns in Writing Magazine. • Working as a tutor for a leading correspondence school. • Teaching at writing holidays, conferences and as a workshop leader. • Being a member of The Society of Authors and the Society of Women Writers and Journalists.

In her own words

After having over 50 different jobs I finally settled on writing. It's an exciting career, or hobby. My first story was published in 1980 and since then I've sold hundreds to women's magazines around the world.

I've been a tutor for a leading correspondence school for many years and have also led workshops and given talks all over the UK. I love the teaching aspect of writing and it always gives me a boost to hear from students about their successes.
