In her own words

My name is Mary-Anne Nickerson and I have been a practising counsellor and psychotherapist in Surrey for a number of years.

I’m committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental manner, and am an accredited trained counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

What are counselling and psychotherapy and how can it help you?

Counselling is a confidential 'helping relationship' that aims to allow you to identify your own resources. It’s based on the principle of empowerment that encourages a view towards reaching your full potential in life.

Counselling and psychotherapy aim not to give you advice but allow you to clarify and address your problems. You’ll be offered the opportunity to explore your fears, challenges, expectations, limitations and possibilities for change and personal growth with my professional guidance in a supportive and caring environment.

They can help a wide variety of issues such as improving your personal relationships, understanding your past and present with a view to enhancing your future. They may also help you to accept the difficult things in life that cannot be changed which sometimes can produce negative effects on us such as anger issues, depression, panic attacks and obsessive compulsive disorders and conflicts in our personal relationships.

Through understanding and acceptance you can hope to manage these difficult feelings and behaviours and I’ll help you along the way, looking at positive ways with which to deal with such problems.
