Paul’s specialism is the Hypnodieting Programme; using behavioural and hypnotherapeutic methods to help people lose weight permanently. For decades now, hypnotherapy and CBT have been acknowledged as highly effective processes for bringing about behavioural change, and weight loss through hypnosis has a long and successful history. My own interest in weight loss hypnotherapy began when I realised how poorly served people seeking to lose weight through the usual methods are.
We know that restrictive or drastic dieting, or using chemical substitutes and meal replacements, can lead to short-term weight loss - but it often ends in yo-yo dieting. Here in the UK we’re now even using bariatric surgery as an instant solution to the obesity problem – but without behavioural change, any method of weight loss risks failure.
I realised that understanding ‘how’ someone eats is just as vital as ‘what’ they eat - and of course this is bound up with discovering ‘why’ they eat – and ‘when’ they eat it!
So I developed my unique Hypnodieting programme to incorporate these vital concepts – and it’s built around gentle cognitive behavioural and hypnotherapy techniques.
The programme follows a course of six individually-prepared sessions where you’re helped to address existing unhelpful behaviour and habits. You’re encouraged and supported as you gradually establish natural changes in your lifestyle. The result is a greater feeling of self-esteem and purpose, leading to real, sustainable, permanent weight loss.
Hypnodieting has become known as ‘the non-diet diet programme’ and clients seem to love how it’s structured. There are now over 15 qualified Hypnodieting consultants practising in the UK, and our next training course will add more.
I’m here to answer your questions about Hypnodieting and weight loss hypnotherapy, and to advise on the small no-cost changes you can easily do for yourself at home that will start you on the path of permanent weight loss and complete wellbeing.
When I first established my therapy practice after leaving years of high-pressure commercial life behind me, I didn’t set out to specialise in weight loss or weight loss hypnotherapy as I do now. I initially concentrated on helping with anxiety and stress-related conditions as I’d found that there was little in the way of understandable, effective and above all easily accessible therapies that were readily available.
Developing my Hypnodieting weight loss hypnotherapy programme, and establishing Hypnodieting Ltd as a national brand name for weight loss, came a little later.

Because I am eating properly I am no longer tired all the time and want to go out and do more and this means I am doing more exercise.
Because I am now my own best friend I make sure if I have a bad day I don't beat myself up and the give up I just give myself a talking to and carry on towards my goal.
Because I now know I am worth it I do not agree to everything and feel obliged all the time and then feel put upon.
I know to make sure I only do the things I want to and do things I am asked to do with good grace. This means I have much more time for those I love and this has not only improved my relationships with my family it meant due to having a much better work/life balance I am much more productive in my job as I no longer feel stressed and overworked.
I have learnt through the program how to deal with my bad habits and trigger points and now make sure I do something else rather than just eat.
The way that the Hypnodieting program works by each session introducing another new idea worked really well for me, as over a two month period I was able to gradually change all my bad habits and turn into the person I had always wanted to be.
I now enjoy food and am in control after years of feeling like food was in control of me.
I now love myself and don't feel guilty that I am overweight as I know I am working towards being a thinner me but I will still be me.
I am no longer stressed at work and sleep so much better.
I have a goal to my life which I am working towards and know each day I am a step closer.

Thanks so much for this.
I have been the classic yo-yo dieter my entire adult life, there's not a lot I don't know about diets and slimming clubs. After my second baby I found a round of dieting fruitless, unpleasant and it was even making me feel unwell. I thought there must be another way, there are lots of slim, healthy looking people out there who don't seem to be constantly doing different diets. I thought there must be a way to just be 'normal'.
Then I saw the card for Hypnodieting outside the Health Centre. Having already found Hypnobirthing hugely successful I decided that this was probably the long-term solution I was looking for. And I really wasn't disappointed. I could have cried in the earlier sessions, just to hear someone explain how I have been feeling for so long and to understand it and to know that I am not the only one. All the sessions were educational and very enlightening but concentrating on different 'homework' after each session I sometimes wondered how it was ever going to come together until about two days after my penultimate session all the pieces suddenly just fell together. I don't think about what I don't want to be anymore, I genuinely look forward all the time, to how I will be.
My negative internal dialogue is gone. Any sniff of a negative thought is immediately banished and replaced with a positive one. I no longer rely on the outside world for my happiness anymore. I feel taken care of, so I am even more enthusiastic about taking care of others. I no longer eat like this might be my last meal for a long time. I eat small amounts frequently and make more healthy choices. I am loving exercising and how it makes me feel. And I haven't weighed myself since the first session (I used to weigh myself every day). It sounds dramatic but I feel transformed. I continue to listen to my hypno recording and intend to return for the odd MOT or service with Paul just for the support.
I see now that dieting is guaranteed to fail. I feel duped by the diet industry and slimming clubs; what a cracking business model they have, they are guaranteed the repeat business. It's hugely disappointing that the NHS has failed to recognise this and still advocate extreme diets, pills and surgery.
But I am very fortunate to have experienced the Hypnodieting course.
