In her own words
I’m a midwife with over 26 years experience helping new parents. I specialise in breastfeeding and all aspects of baby skincare.
As a mum of five, I know how important it is to have breastfeeding tips and baby skincare advice that’s based on sound evidence. I run a website, Tipslimited (www.tipslimited.co.uk/), that publishes trustworthy articles on breastfeeding, neonatal skincare, skin-to-skin contact, cup feeding, and more.
The TIPS Award Scheme was launched in 2007 to carry out independent market research into carefully sourced products within the baby and toddler market. Only products that comply with our strict criteria can be submitted for a TIPS trial. To date we have completed 12 standard trials and 10 one-off trials (covering 32 categories of products), and allocated over 200 TIPS awards.
My book Breastfeeding: the essential guide has stayed in Amazon’s top-10 bestselling breastfeeding books for over six years. Around 145,000 people have read my award-winning leaflet Babycare - Back to Basics, now in its seventh version.
As a stakeholder (contributing to the development of new guidelines for antenatal, postnatal and atopic eczema guidelines) with the NICE organisation, my work on baby skincare has helped to change NHS policy within maternity units in the UK and beyond.
In 2005 I gained my BSc in advanced studies in midwifery and my published work on midwifery-related subjects is now well respected.

I founded www.tipslimited.com in June 2004 to publish my first book Breastfeeding: the essential guide and to provide parents and professionals with evidence based information on a variety of midwifery related issues especially breastfeeding and baby skincare. The TIPS Awards Scheme was launched in March 2007 and has proved highly successful. Only products that meet TIPS stringent criteria will be tested through the Award Scheme. Already a well respected name within the industry, TIPS parent testers take part on a strictly voluntary basis, making the TIPS Award Scheme the most impartial testing programme in the baby and toddler market sector.
