In her own words

The magic of being lost in a book as a child has never left me and for the past 25 years I’ve derived the same pleasure from writing them. In the early 80s I had a number of articles and short stories for both adults and children published in magazines. Since my first children's book for Hamish Hamilton in 1986 I’ve had nearly 30 more titles published and my first book for adults came out in 2009.

I’ve had considerable experience in teaching writing, having been a tutor for Writers' News home study division for seven years and for the Writers Bureau for three. I run creative writing workshops for adults from time to time and also visit schools to talk to children about writing.

I look forward to working with prospective children's authors and shall strive to be as honest and constructive as I can in helping them to attain their goals.
