I’m a counsellor and trained family therapist. My background is in children's nursing and I have many years of experience working as a nurse, and now as a counsellor/psychotherapist with families in a hospital and home setting who have a child with an acute chronic or terminal illness. I have also worked as a counsellor for the local health board in GP surgeries in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. I have a private practise where I support clients through relationship issues such as communication styles and understanding each other's needs as well as separation, divorce and mediation involving children.
My approach with clients is person-centred as I believe that the relationship and connection with the client, couple or family is crucial. Within this relationship I work systemically, drawing on the meaning of events for clients reflecting on life experiences and client strengths.
My belief is that the client is the expert, my role is to explore their story and within that story to link systemic frameworks that explore impact and effects of events for clients and helping clients understand and create new meanings surrounding these events. I enjoy connecting with the client at their level.
I work with couples and families as well as individuals.
"Thanks again Sue you really helped even after one session, for someone to say how I feel and understand felt great."

"Working with Sue has given me more confidence/improved my self esteem and helped me with my guilt feelings over my divorce. I am being more pro -active in helping my children come to terms with the situation instead of avoiding it."
