Hello, I’m Susan Pagella and I’m an independent qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, with a special interest in trauma. I began my professional life within education, developing the in-depth understanding of both adults and young people that later helped to shape my career as an effective psychotherapist and counsellor. Today as well as my independent practice, I work as a supervisor for a therapy service devoted to refugees. I am also pleased to offer you my expert services as a psychotherapist and counsellor by simply calling me here at Greatvine.
Over the years I have worked with a truly wide range of psychological and emotional issues. I have developed an in depth understanding of issues relating to trauma so as to effectively help people through trauma recovery. I work with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, commonly known as PTSD, including that which is chronic and accompanied by issues from childhood. I also work sensitively with those who have experienced different types of sexual abuse, which can include rape. My understanding of different cultures has been developed in part through both my extensive work with asylum seekers and experiencing different cultures first hand whilst living and working in a number of countries. My work with refugees has included issues experienced by people living with a legacy of political aggression, torture, rape and genocide a number of whom having experienced destitution at a young age.
I believe that thinking about the role that culture can play in your experience and in our work, is helpful. It allows me to be a more effective therapist to help you with whatever issues you may be facing. I am able to offer you a place where your concerns are given the focused attention and thought that they deserve. The issues you are facing will be considered with empathy, professional care and respect. I will work with both your individual concerns and the group dynamics you are encountering, such as those within your family. Alongside personal issues, you may also be looking for advice for work-related matters. Creating a space to discuss what is happening within your professional life can create a more positive feeling of individual wellbeing, as well as having benefits at work.
Whatever you feel you would like to talk about, I look forward very much to offering you my support, advice and help,
Susan
