Achievements

University nutrition and health lecturer.
Over 35 years experience.
Have owned and successfully sold health clubs.

Specialities

I specialise in helping people obtain a healthy and well-balanced life story as it relates to eating and physical fitness, and especially weight loss. I have designed a customised weight loss and health giving programme entitled, The B (as in Behaviour and Balance) which looks at the individuals lifestyle to obtain the best result for YOU. I work with individuals as well as groups, and also specialise in children's dietary intake and physical output. My expertise is in childhood obesity.

A large part of my experience comes from as far back as 1989, when I started up and ran the gym at The Sanctuary in Covent Garden, London - the first ladies-only gymnasium and health club of its type in the world. I sold it in 1996, and went on to create and run The Phillimore Club (Health Club and Spa) in Kensington London. I sold that in 1998, and became the managing director of the Aveda Concept Salon in Harvey Nichols (London and Leeds). In 2002, I opened The Chakra Rooms (Spiritual Beauty Concept) which were located in large department stores (Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser, Selfridges etc) in London and in other parts of England.

I now run a Nutrition and health consultancy practice in London, and continue to lecture at a well-known London university.

I am also a nutritional journalist and write articles relating to nutrition and well-being.

In her own words

As a registered public health nutritionist and university lecturer in nutrition and health, I can help people learn more on the subject of healthy eating and leading a healthy lifestyle. Having owned health clubs in the distant past, I have 30 years experience in the health industry. In addition, I’ve worked with children for the past 20 years and specialise in childhood eating patterns relating to obesity.

My expertise in wellbeing and lifestyle stems from my background within the health and fitness industry, and I’ve also been a public speaker on this subject for many years.

I am currently undertaking a PhD in children's nutritional status, and am questioning the obesogenic environments that contribute to today’s current obesity challenges.

My passion for all things healthy has followed me around and I have been an ‘organic (whole food) foodie’ for the past 25 years. I strongly believe that if we mainly eat plant-based food, we will ensure a healthy and long life. I also believe that a daily dose of exercise is imperative and varied exercise at that – lots of walking, yoga, Pilates, dancing, aerobics –the secret to a long healthy life!

Caller feedback

" "At first I didnt think Nutrition was what I needed, I thought I needed a straight and simple diet. But no, I needed to understand why I kept breaking my diets and Yvonne has truly helped me to do this. Thank you Yvonne, I will always be grateful to you!"
Susan

"I am astounded at the amount of things Yvonne Wake knows - she seems to have all the answers and I am glad I found her!"

"Dear Yvonne, I wanted to tell you that since our last chat I feel like alot of my goals are now in reach. I am no longer having stomach pains and have over the past 6 months gone from 11stone 9 to 9 stone 6 initially by the diet you suggested, and now by just my cutting down my portions and doing my exercise. I have met someone and fallen in love too! He is my perfect person. I am enjoying my work. Cutting down on the drinking and being a party girl out every night and taking control of my finances. Quite a turn around! So I wanted to thank you for picking me up when I was down, you are a special lady and deserve all the good things that happen to you x"
Michelle

"Dear Yvonne, I cannot begin to tell you how amazed I am that firstly I actually listened to your advice, but moreover that what you suggested actually worked having tried every diet going these past few years. I am so glad you have been my health guru for the past 3 months. I have told my sister-in-law about you and she will be in touch. Thank you..............You are a female knight in shining armour and I am so happy to know you. "
Bette
